You may know a little bit about recycling—you see bins down at the curbs every week, ready for pick up.  But, it is really paying off?  Is it more trouble than it’s worth?  With all the talk lately about “going green”, even if you’re not so environmentally savvy, it’s important to think about how waste can affect our planet.  People take it for granted that we will always have a safe and clean place to live.

Consider these numbers:  65,000 tons of cell phones and 300 million printer cartridges thrown away each year.  Recycling your printer cartridges will reduce the amount of plastic in landfills.  Note that the plastic in a typical cartridge may take over 400 years to decompose!  And to think, this is just the tip of the iceberg.

Many organizations, such as Ameriserve USA, offer people the chance to earn money for their old cell phones and printer cartridges. Doing a simple search on the internet will point you to a lot of websites that have free recycling programs.  You can use these programs to earn money for yourself or raise money for a school or organization.
