Nothing comes under as much scrutiny in the world of self-improvement at the concept of positive thinking. The cynical say that just believing in something doesn't necessarily make it true while the more optimistic admit that they don't always turn the positive thinking into positive action.
Positive thinking doesn't always work because thinking positively might only be going on on the surface while deeper negative beliefs persist. Just one deep-seated negative belief is enough to stop you from taking the right kind of action.
Just thinking positively doesn't get you anywhere though. You need to be taking the right action as well. But when most people need to start taking the right action they find their positive thinking fails them.
The opportunity to take the right action will expose your negative beliefs. Taking action forces you to confront all those negative beliefs and battle against them in order to get things done. Positive thinking is effective when it outweighs the negative thinking or when the negative thinking has been gotten rid of.
If you are able to focus completely on your goal and positive thoughts then it is of course possible to succeed despite those negative beliefs. This is how a lot of people operate. But it's a real struggle, feels stressful and can be very draining. Also, those negative beliefs don't change and you'll have to deal with them every time you move towards new goals.
Emotional Freedom Technique makes this process much easier. It helps you to get rid of any negative feelings that come up when you want to take action. You keep doing this until taking action feels easier. Those negative emotions and thoughts that came up weren't based on anything in reality, just your beliefs about the situation as presented through that negative filter.
When you get rid of all the negative thoughts and feelings that are inhibiting your Positive Thinking you'll be able to hold a positive worldview effortlessly, taking Positive Action, the real key to success will become effortless and automatic.
