    Power can be defined as the ability to shape and alter the course of events. It is both a necessary, and perhaps the most distrusted component exigent to human progress. While power is often misused, it remains an essential part of implementation. If an organization is to see its goals achieved, it must find leaders who understand how to wield power and act appropriately.

    There is a burgeoning need for leadership competence coaching. Negotiation, communication and expertise are elements of leadership by persuasion and inducing. Giving orders and using rewards and punishment to enforce those orders are elements of leadership by commanding. Employing networks and shaping organizational agendas are elements of leadership by shaping. Leadership competence coaching teaches a leader to be a well-rounded, effective leader through the use of persuasion, commanding, shaping and inducing, and how to balance and choose between those disparate styles on the basis of the given situation.

    Business leaders can become exceptionally skilled negotiators with leader competence coaching. In organizations, good negotiating is a very important skill to possess. Leaders must also implement the right approach to negotiation. The objective should be to reach agreements that satisfy all persons involved and are equally fair to everybody.

    Because all leaders need to play the role of executive coach for their employees and/or teammates, they must have excellent communication skills. Although written communication is useful for articulating formal policies, like mission statements, oral communication plays a more important role; generally, in common situations, people are more likely to be influenced by verbal than written messages.

    Leadership competence coaching is progressive because it recognizes the importance of listening. Although it has been the least emphasized, listening is the most critical part of communication, especially because it is the first way to influence others. To promote effective listening in group situations, try this strategy: before anyone speaks up, he or she must accurately and satisfactorily restate the ideas and feelings that the previous speaker articulated.

    So it is the business leader's actions that make him a role model for others to follow. The leader needs to demonstrate their personal commitment to the strategy so that others can see it. There are a number of areas a business leader needs to be proficient in: administration, problem solving, planning, strategy and transformation. You can learn that and a whole lot more through leadership competence coaching.

    Power requires the ability to influence people and affect the course of future events and is essential if an organization wishes to see its proposals applied. An organization relies on leaders who understand the uses of power and act in a responsible and ethical manner. Leadership competence coaching teaches techniques that work with the proposed leader to make them more aware of their surroundings, having them adjust to different situations while guiding their followers. These techniques teach a. Business leaders how to alter their negotiation approach based on the current situation. b. Executive coaches the importance of listening.
