Before I decided to homeschool my children, I started reading different homeschool reviews. I was able to read about other parents' experiences with homeschooling, which helped me realize the freedom you have to expand your child's curricula beyond the four or five mandatory core subjects.

One of the more interesting homeschool reviews I read focused on a mother who blended a home-based business with her child's education.

As she reflected on her homeschooling experience, she said that her child was intellectually well-rounded thanks to this learning. She believed it helped give her child the skills need to thrive in an ever-changing economy.

As job security is on the decline. For many years it was a common mentality to expect a job right out of college or trade school. Most people thought that once a job was attained that you usually stayed there. This is not the case for most of us in this era.

As I read homeschool reviews, I learned that people chose the homeschooling approach to help give their children the best education possible.

In a homeschool setting, parents strive not only to give their children the best education, they also want their children to be confident and successful.

In public and even private schools, children usually aren't even exposed to business courses--never mind the concept of starting your own business. This homeschooling mother recognized this.

If you want to be a mom who works from home and homeschool too, you can do it; and maybe even more efficiently with help from your children. You can teach them how to start up and maintain there own home-based business.

I found this extremely fascinating. Not only is there the potential to earn extra money through your own business, you could encourage your children to save up for their own future.

The extra money is nice, but the lessons your child will learn along the way will be invaluable. Your child will learn how to budget money, learn the ins and outs of business taxation, understand how advertising works, and know how to assign tasks to others helping out with the project.

These are lessons that could help children build financial security for years to come.

I would have never thought about coming across homeschool reviews that teach your child to run their own business. Your child could have a great idea of marketing some type of product or solution that could take off. I think it's a great idea to have your child understand the terms of a free market economy.

You might have your child do research for a product and see what kind of marketing strategies they develop. Your child could also read up on the competition.

I concur with the homeschooling mother who learned that creating and running a business from home is a great way to supplement homeschool curriculum.
