While I may say that you should not be at the scene but you need to be near to the scene and do not leave the scene until the police allows you to leave. After the accident, you might be bleeding after an impact or your clothing is torn. Remember to keep the blood stained or torn clothing as it is potential evidence. I know that after any accidents at all, everyone will start the finger pointing ritual. Do not put yourself into such a discussion as it will not bring any help but will ruin your case. Should you need to decide on something, consult your attorney before you agree on anything.
