Which of these affiliate marketing mistakes do you make?
Before we dive into the mistakes, here's an interesting story...
Man, did I get a rude awakening. The gym rats (that's what guys who hang out a gym are called) were all huge. Muscle bound freaks stared at my "pencil-neck" physique. I was intimidated.
Despite having worked out for a year, I did not make much progress. It occurred to me something was wrong. Instead of continuing on my path of ignorance I bought a book on bodybuilding. Reading that book was an eye-opener.
For one thing, I found out I was grossly over-trained. Most natural bodybuilders can't use the same routines the "juice heads" use. I didn't know that when I started out. As a result, I wasted a lot of time on things that did not work.
When I got started in Internet marketing I first found out what mistakes to avoid. My reasoning was simple. Steer clear of the pitfalls most people fall into. I just might succeed at making money online as an affiliate.
Let me tell you what I discovered...
Another big mistake is not building a list. You can send people to your affiliate link directly. You are better off getting them to join a list. Like an ezine list on the topic they are interested in. Once you have them on a list work it. Send out good info and promotional stuff.
Mistake #2: Not building a responsive list. By all accounts, super affiliates build big lists. Because affiliate marketing is a numbers game. The bigger your list the better. Size counts for only so much, though. The other ingredient is having a responsive list. Focus on getting people to join your list. Then keep in touch with them by sending out valuable info.
Focusing on low-priced affiliate products is another profit-draining mistake. The same time and effort is required to sell regardless of price range. So it makes sense to focus on higher priced products.
Email is great. It allows for almost instant and cheap communication. That's the problem. The false economy of email leads affiliates to use email exclusively. Not a good idea. Because snail mail is much more profitable. Mix it up. Use both to get higher response rates and more affiliate sales.
Neglecting offline marketing methods is another way to cut your profits. People still respond best to old fashioned direct mail. Combine online and offline marketing to get the biggest profits possible.
Steer clear of these mistakes and you'll put the odds of success on your shoulders.
