Are you nervous about anything involving money and the Internet? Do you fear identity theft and scammers? Do you believe that every website is out to steal something from you? Do you stay away from websites that ask for even the most basic of information about you?
If this describes you, you could be missing out on a great opportunity to make money. Make money, you say? How is this possible, when it seems everyone on the Internet just wants to take mine? You don't need to be afraid to make money online, if you do your homework.
First, protect your personal information. This seems obvious, but it is a major way people do get ripped off on the internet. The most basic ways to protect yourself are things like firewalls and virus-seeking software. Get an external hard drive to store your data. Back up everything, all the time. At worst, you only lose what you've done since your last backup - you don't want to lose all the contacts you've spent so much time getting.
If you're well protected, you can stick your neck out, risk a little - it's the only way to know what will happen if..... This means more homework - study successes, both online and off, big and small. Decide how much risk you can handle, consider what you are prepared to risk, and try something new. Trial and error is the only way you can truly know what will work for you.
Third, don't be afraid that making money online, be it through sales or whatever means you decide, is bad or unethical. As long as you are not defrauding your customers, or cheating them, you need not fear doing anything the "wrong" way.
Work with an expert you know - or better yet, find one online! There's nothing wrong with giving people what they want - even if you use the internet. You don't need to worry about being the one who pounced on an idea and ran with it. Some of the world's greatest successes came from people doing just that.
