I can think of many reasons to set up an ebay business but I have to say in my opinion the best reason is probably that you can get started with only a few bucks in your pocket and within a matter of hours. It is this exciting prospect of being in business with so little upfront investment that has attracted many to the eBay way of life.

One thing that attracts some people to running an online ebay business is the opportunity to expand the interest in their hobby to making money from something they are really passionate about.

One reason eBay is so popular with buyers is we are all very busy people and often to visit stores especially those which sell niche items can require us to travel sometimes even interstate travel.By providing a eBay business that caters to your niche market you are delivering a much wanted service to your customer in the convenience of there own homes.

I think one of the things that draws people to buying and selling on eBay is the excitement of online auctions.This excitement can be much greater if you are selling or buying a really popular item and a bidding war results. If can still remember my first auction and how I was excited watching the excited bidders fighting to buy my item.

For some people who work from home it's a matter of choice as an alternative to working for a boss or running your own brick and mortar business. However for other people they start an eBay business more out of necessity. Parents with young children can spend more time with their children and not have to leave them with childminders. Others work at home to look after elderly parents, or maybe sick or disabled themselves and unable to get a regular job or are just looking after a loved one who needs care.

Another big bonus is you can wave goodbye to those ever growing gas bills as the cost of travelling to work continues to spiral ever upward. I can still recall looking out of my bedroom window watching my neighbour scraping ice from his car windshield while I looked forward to a day in the warm in front of my PC.

When you run a business from home you are able to claim tax deductions for expenses you incur day to day in running your business from home. Each authority has different rules so you should consult your tax adviser to find out exactly what you should be claiming.

In addition because eBay is a global market place if you wish you can sell pretty much to anyone in the world which means you are able to sell at any time of the day or night. If you are living in the UK for example you can work a few hours at night selling to the US markets.So you can watch your children grow up,meet them from school and even take a vacation at times to suit you.

In fact you can pretty much work hours to suit your schedule and don't forget every hour you work is for you and your family not some boss who tells you what to do every 5 minutes.

Now your destiny is in your hands, you can decide how fast or slow you develop your business, what to sell and even how much you want to earn to a large extent.

There is a old saying by Confucius that says - "If you are doing what you love you will never work another day in your life". Now as the Nike ad say's just do it.
