Unfortunately, this delay can prevent the discovery of the disease and result in misdiagnoses. The first signs are similar to many other illnesses, such as colds or flu, and can therefore be dismissed. Another character of mesothelioma is respiratory problems, such as pain in the chest and difficulty breathing. The three forms of mesothelioma have slightly different symptoms.<br /><br />Pleural Mesothelioma effusion, develops, coming after a pleural effusion, a buildup of fluid in the pleura of the chest, which often cause symptoms, such as the following: respiratory complaints, the difficulties with swallowing disorders, shortness of breath, persistent cough, weight loss, fever, cough Blood, rasping, and pain in the chest.<br /><br />The symptoms of peritoneal mesothelioma, a cancer of the mucous membrane of the abdomen, include a weight loss, (the bump and abdominal pain are because of ascites -fluid in the abdominal cavity), intestinal occlusion, blood clotting disorders, anemia and fever.<br /><br />Lastly, the rarest form of mesothelioma, pericardial mesothelioma, includes mild to severe pain in the chest, palpitations, a persistent unrelenting cough,  shortness of breath, and fatigue.<br /><br />For the diagnosis, whether it involves the symptoms of a patient with any of the above mesothelioma, when compared to other forms of cancer is a little less difficult. An X-ray or ultrasound examination can be used. If the results of these methods are not conclusive, a biopsy can determine with certainty if cancer is there or not.
