Offering special promotions for your bed & breakfast can get people to secure reservations. This is a good way to generate what will become customers on a regular basis. It can have a spider effect too as those that stay are likely to tell a handful of others what you had to offer them. Hopefully it is enough to encourage them to contact you as well.
You can't blindly be attempting to implement ways to promote your business though. You have to really take a look at what is working well and where you can make some improvements. This way you can focus on promotions that will tie in with that. If you have too many empty rooms during the week then you need to promote that instead of deals for the weekends when you are already being booked to capacity on a regular basis.
Offering a free night when someone stays for two or three days is a great incentive to go with you and not your competition. It can be something that simple that will turn your business around. You may say you can't afford to give away a night for free. Yet if that person doesn't make the reservation you may end up with the room empty for four nights so it is still going to be a winning situation for everyone involved with it.
Make sure you keep a close eye on the prices of your competition. If they offer similar services for a much lower price you will lose business to them. You will also need to be able to promote what you have to offer that they don't. This way guests will decide that your bed & breakfast is more appealing and interesting to them.
Don't pass over those that have already frequented your business though. It is harder to get new people than it is to keep current customers happy. Do all you can to make sure they know you appreciate their stay. Offer them special promotions that you send to their email account. Offer nice raffles and drawings where they can win fabulous prizes as well.
This can easily be done by asking guests how they heard about you. If you offer your regular guests free nights when others come to stay as well you will have plenty of free advertising out there. You can be sure that they will be working hard to get your business name out there with something like that in it for them.
Some owner's of bed & breakfast locations also offer special promotions that are only online. This means they will spend less time on the phone answering questions and securing reservations. The guests can find the information the website and secure their own reservation. As a thank you for that they pass on the savings to their guests.
There are so many ways that you can help your bed & breakfast to grow so don't limit yourself. Break out of old habits and reach for new strategies so that you can move forward. There are plenty of very successful bed & breakfast locations out there and yours can certainly become one of them.
