You have the choice of seeing the footage in real time or recording it and viewing it later. Just make sure that the camera covers a large enough area. Again these can be wired or unwired units so do some research before purchasing and weigh up your options.

They can be set up to record onto a VCR that is time lapse for a period of 24 hours, or onto a digital video recorder with the majority of them having a capacity to hold a constant stream of video for up to 30 days.
