The majority of people are more than capable of painting their home or fixing something as simple as a gutter, but commercial interior design is a completely different ball game. Commercial interior design requires a special education.

Any professional commercial interior designer has a very good education, they probably started thinking about commercial interior design before they even got to college and simply didn't realize it. Commercial interior design is something that's very different, and this means that it can be difficult to choose what to do. There are many different areas of commercial interior design, and many people will specialize in a particular area. No matter which area you choose you will face many of the same challenges.

One of the most useful tools that can be used in commercial interior design is software. This is also known as CAD, or Computer Aided Design. All commercial interior designers are familiar with this software and use it to create and view their ideas before they materialize. This software can also be used to create technical drawings which can be understood by contractors. CAD drawings can be used to create blueprints and drawings which can help to complete your project.

A lot has changed recently with design and architecture, thanks to computers you no longer even need to put pen to paper when drawing and planning the layout of a room. It is now possible to do all kinds of drawing on a computer, this also allows you much more flexibility and minimizes human error. Using CAD software can be a great way to manipulate the interior of a room so that you can see how things will look, and also show your client.

    Engineering

Many people do not associate engineering with interior design, however a career in commercial interior design is also a career in engineering. You need to know mathematical equations so that you can work out the space available, and the space required for the office cubicles. You also need to know how to add more space to a building.

Commercial interior design is concerned with economizing on space and doesn't necessarily mean working with existing space. You might have to create extra space which doesn't already exist, and so you will need an understanding of engineering.

Commercial interior design can be very difficult and challenging, however it can be something that you will be proud of. In order to succeed you need to have a lot of experience and knowledge from a variety of sources.

If you want to start a career in commercial interior design then you need to be prepared to do a lot of studying. However that won't last forever, once you have graduated then you can look forward to a very promising career.
