    1)The Galway Races - July 28th to August 3rd
    This premiere racing festival has been held since 1869 and involves major races over the week with the largest prize around 200,000 euro’s and is televised throughout the world. It has a reputation of being highly spirited just like the racers and the horses and it attracts around 200,000 horse enthusiasts every year. It is set during the last week of July at the Ballybrit Racecourse and is a great day out for all horse enthusiasts.

    2)The Dublin Horse Show 2008 06-10th August
    This is a huge exhibition held in the capital Dublin in the RDS complex. It has a huge range of equine based equipment for sale but if you enjoy shopping there are other stalls with general items available in the trade hall with over 300 stalls. The main event of the week is of course the racing and is the winning of the Aga Khan Challenge Trophy where eight countries have competed for the title.

    3)County Monaghan: Castle Lesley
    This Beautiful Irish Castle is one of only 30 still owned by the original family who have owned it since the 1660’s, they have accommodated many famous people from poets to politicians and boasts amazingly luxurious accommodation. The Castle Leslie Equestrian Centre is surrounded by beautiful country and is placed perfectly to appreciate horse riding and has recently opened the premium equestrian centre that caters for all abilities. Services include 1,000 acres of private land with over 300 purpose built jumps, over 20 miles of bridleways to meander through the beautiful surroundings and weatherproof provisions for those rainy days.

    4)Goffs - Horse Sale Show
    Goffs Bloodstock Sale is based in Kill, County Kildare is the best horse supplier in Ireland and hold specialized annual events to sell premium horses to people who are interested in owning horses. The auctions are available on line also but to visit the auction means all the stimulation of an auction as well as viewing some of the animals and meeting other horse specialist. Goffs Million Sale is held this year on 29th September to 1st October, features 657 premium yearlings and includes eligibility to the Goffs Millions with the huge prize fund of 3,200,000 Euro’s.

    5)The 27 Racecourses Nationwide
    It is a fact that there are more racecourse’s per head in Ireland than anywhere else in the world so where ever your vacationing in Ireland your will always be near a day at the races. The total number of race enthusiasts across the whole country is 1.4 million to the 27 individual racecourses. The courses range from national hunt to flat or a combination of the two.
