A calorie shifting diet is a specific weight loss technique that attempts to stop the natural process of your metabolism slowing down. Your metabolism slows down naturally when you begin to eat less as a result of a diet. This is why a calorie shifting diet can be so effective; when you proceed with a normal low calorie diet your metabolism grinds almost to a halt. This is due to the fact that your body is designed to store a certain amount of fats. When the fat you have stored within your body comes under threat by a diet; your metabolism will effectively slow down to help your body compensate for this.
A calorie shifting diet is a way to work against nature and the way our bodies are designed. If you follow a calorie shifting diet, your metabolism will not become slower as your body does not realise that its fat stores are actually threatened.
Take for example; if you were following a strict 1000 calorie a day diet you would probably not lose any weight. So instead of this you alter the amounts of calories that your body gets. So you could have 100 calories one day and then the next day eat 1200, then you could go back down to 900 a day and so on. This way your body does not become militant to the specific amounts of calories and as it never knows what it is going to get; your metabolism works at its normal fast rate. You are in effect playing a trick against your body.
Most people who try this approach wonder why they ever used any other dieting approach. After all, with this method, they might have to go without much to eat today, but they know that tomorrow, they can have a day eating the foods they love. It never gets boring, and so people tend to stick with the diet longer.
So let's talk specifics. Let's discuss a calorie-shifting plan you can adopt for yourself. Our suggestion is that you take four days and eat almost all low-fat foods, striving for the same calorie intake each of those days. The other three, you should eat more calories, focusing more on the foods you know and enjoy. The next four, you're back to the low-fat diet, and so on. This approach keeps you excited about the diet and allows your metabolism to operate at its normal rate. And so, you lose weight -- weight that stays off.
Your body is smarter than you think; so make sure you are always changing the calorie amount on a regular basis; your body will soon learn to recognise that you eat less after a certain amount of time and will change to accommodate this. When you raise or lower your calorie intake; make sure it is different every time. Always keep track by writing everything down that you eat and the amount of calories eaten that day or week.
If you're one of those who has thus far found permanent weight loss evasive, take heart! The calorie shifting diet might be just what the doctor ordered, and might be your key to permanent success.
And don't forget to drink lots of water and implement at least a 30-minute walking session everyday. This will greatly enhanced your fat burning process and helps you to lose more pounds faster than expected.
