So you've decided you're going to lose weight. It should be simple, right? You'll just skip a couple meals a day and do 500 pushups a day. You have to shed some pounds that way, right? Wrong. In the real world, it's just not that simple, because if you don't have a better-thought-out plan than that, you're body will actually fight against you in order to keep the stores of fat it has set aside for the future.
However, weight loss is possible if you learn the proper strategy. The following are some of the best ways we've found to increase your body's metabolism and in the process burn calories.
Make green tea a regular part of your daily diet. Health experts recommend drinking it three times a day or more, because it energizes your metabolism, preventing it from getting too low as you burn calories. The benefits of green tea are due to both the caffeine content as well as certain other chemicals that help keep your metabolic rate at a high level.
Never let your body catch on to your exercise schedule. You need to constantly switch things up. Do different types of exercises in different amounts each day. Otherwise, your body will learn the schedule and start resisting your efforts to rob it of its fat stores. The body by nature tries to preserve these storehouses, and will learn how to do so by lowering metabolism. The way you keep it from doing this is by constantly changing your routine.
There are easy ways to work out for the same amount of time but burn more calories; whenever you do a specific exercise, crank up the notch for 5 minutes in each program. This way you know how to burn more calories without having to work out for longer.
Develop some "nervous habits". Really! Start tapping your fingers or your legs; click your fingers. Every little movement adds to the number of calories you burn.
Avoid the temptation to starve yourself. It will only make you sick, and your body reacts by slowing your metabolism and consuming muscle tissue. A better option: Eat low-fat, nutritious foods instead.
Remember to drink plenty of fluids and water throughout the day. Experts recommend that you intake at least 5 bottles of water per day. If you increase this amount by just one bottle, your metabolism goes much faster. Then this makes you lose weight and burn calories quicker.
Get out and enjoy the sun! Some people get caught in the rut of staying in the gym. Instead, spend some time walking or running outside in the fresh air. Research shows that people stick with their exercise program longer when a significant portion of it is done outside.
By just following these few steps, burning calories can actually be a lot of fun. More importantly, you burn them at a faster weight and be on a quick and powerful path to better health and a longer life.
