People working at home know that time is of the essence and cannot afford to sit around and procrastinate. Especially at home where there are thousands of distractions that prevent you from earning income from home. These are a couple of effective ideas on how to overcome procrastination while working from home, to increase productivity.
Rise and shine, because starting early in the morning is great
Being a family man working from home you'd know this is important. If you get up 2-3 hours eariler than usual, odds are you'll find you get a lot more done, simply because of less distractions, the ability to plan and schedule tasks and there are no phones ringing. On top of all these benefits, you are well rested and have lots of time to organize, which is the key to increase productivity.
A daily or a weekly planner is a necessity to know the activities for the whole week. With this planner you cannot possibly miss a doctor's appointment or any other important meeting you plan to have due to a busy schedule in your daily life.
Prepare a daily checklist
It is not possible for a normal human being to remember so many things. Writing down important matters would help you get things done on time. As and when you complete each of the tasks for the day, you might cross them off your list. You would be able to focus on things you need to do instead of trying to remember what needs to be done. A checklist is also a great way to accomplish several tasks in a day.
Self-Motivate yourself
There are thousands (if not more) books on this subject. In order to complete your daily tasks and big picture goals you need to stay motivated, so keep self-motivating yourself. If you don't have cartoons or mission statements then getting daily inspirational quotes in your inbox is another way to remind yourself of success!
Make use of Office Automations
This is Internet age. Automation is a must in these days. You could use many brilliant ways to use the technology available to help you do your work with ease, speed and efficiency. Automation would replace many hours of your hard work, time and energy. If you are not already familiar with computers or Internet usage, you could enroll yourself in a training class. Learn to use the high speed Internet, email, chat facilities. You might be able to find useful software on the Internet to automate your everyday tasks. Take frequent but short breaks
You should try to get a break after about 2 hours of activity. Let it be 10-20 minutes, where you can spend time with family, read your e-mail or read your favorite magazine, just to relax. Remember to keep an eye on the goal and don't take too long rest, that will likely put you off and get you off-track.
With these tips you could run your home, run your office and do much more with out ever having to complain about not having enough time to get your things done. Those around you would certainly wonder about the magic behind your productivity!
