Becoming a mommy is perhaps the best thing that can happen in a woman's life. However, pregnancy comes with its own troubles. No sooner have you finished delivering the baby that you are now faced with the problem of losing all the extra fat that you have acquired during those nine months! In fact, moms face more obstacles to weight loss than others, and these obstacles are as follows:
1. The bad habit of constantly eating during the nine months period can gain a foothold in a new mother daily routine. So it follows that, to lose weight, new mother have to cut down their food intake. But old habits are hard to break.
2. When the baby comes into a mother's life, naturally the baby will be main center of attention. Therefore the baby needs will overrule that of the mother's own need to lose weight. And as such this leaves very little time for her to plan what is needed to shed the excess weight.
3. We all know that newborn are very demanding and helpless. Thus having constantly to tend to the baby, leaves the mother very little time to sleep properly. This have the effect of making a person feel hungry and ultimately lead to weight gain.
4. Because of Postnatal stress, a new mother will also tend to eat more than she should and therefore leading to more weight gained.
Although all these seems to be overwhelming odds for a mother to lose weight successfully. However if we looks at things objectively, its not hard to lose weight. As long as we can get rid of the excess calories and also have good sleep, you are on your way to losing weight. Below, are two ways that will help:
1. Workouts and exercises: I know that as a mom you are now busier than ever. But that doesn't mean you cannot fit in half-an-hour of exercise in your daily routine! If you work in an office you can exercise at lunch. If there is a YMCA in your area then you can have someone babysit your child there while you do some light workouts! Also, if you can spend 30 minutes in a gym then that is even better! If gym appears to be boring, take your partner along with you!
2. We as mothers have the bad habit of always preparing food for the kids. And if the children do not finish the food, we always feel the need to munch on their leftovers for fear of wastage. This will ultimately lead to weight gain. There fore we have to learn to control ourselves and break tis bad habit if we are to lose weight. Once we have done that, follow a diet plan to help reduce calories intake. However before going on a diet, always consult a doctor or a dietitian.
However if you are breastfeeding then you shouldn't diet. Breastfeeding itself can help you lose a great deal of fat! Many young women lose baby fat this way, and they don't even realize it!
In conclusion, losing weight does not seem impossible for new mothers when you look at it differently.
