The modern skin care treatment called Microdermabrasion is a technique which has been medically proven to be incredibly effective in reducing the visibility of stretch marks. As well as being good for stretch marks this procedure is also extremely effective in the fight against the effects of aging upon the skin. So it will come as not surprise that Microdermabrasion is the most popular skin care treatment available today.
Many of us will have heard of microdermabrasion being compared to a sandblasting of the face. The reason for this nickname is that the machine used blasts special medical crystals onto the skin and then sucks them back up again. Because of the abrasive nature of the crystals the very top layer of skin, which consists mainly of dead cells, dirt and other debris, is removed. This leads to an increase in the speed of skin renewal and collagen production which is one of the reasons why it can also be extremely effective in the treatment for stretch marks, acne scars and other such blemishes.
Unfortunately, if your stretch marks are extremely deep, microdermabrasion may not reduce their visibility to a satisfactory degree. Do not believe all the hype that surrounds skin care treatments, this treatment is one of the very best but it can not perform miracles. In such cases the only real solution is cosmetic surgery so you should seek professional medical advice at the earliest opportunity.
The vast majority of stretch marks, skin blemishes and acne scars, are not too deep and, rather than using an aggressive treatment, microdermabrasion is a superb solution to such skin problems. Furthermore it has been proven medically that the skin care treatment can remove completely some crow's feet and other fine lines. Even with scars, such as stretch marks, it has been proven that these can be reduced to the level that they are virtually invisible other than when inspected really closely.
Although causes of the formation of stretch marks are notoriously difficult to understand, it is generally accepted that stretch marks are formed when the skin's collagen collapses when the skin is stretched beyond a certain point (as mentioned earlier microdermabrasion helps increase collagen production). They are most common following pregnancy and, at this time, you are most probably feeling a little washed out and run down, as well as this it is common for a new mum to have poor skin. Why not treat yourself to a pampering at your local beauty salon, health clinic or spa? Most places offer sessions of microdermabrasion so you will be able to give it a try while you relax, ready to return refreshed and ready to face the trials and challenges of parenthood.
Some believe prevention is better than cure and there are certainly plenty of skin care products which claim to reduce the risk of stretch marks. While most work upon the principle that skin elasticity is increased using moisturizers some do seem to be somewhat effective. Unfortunately results vary greatly and accurate measurement is not really possible. It is also possible to suffer from stretch marks even if you use all the products available.
As well as caring for you skin while pregnant it is also incredibly important to take care of your skin immediately after giving birth. At this time your whole body will be exhausted and in need of recovery and this is equally true with your skin. It is crucial that you eat well and develop a good skin care regime at the earliest opportunity. If you are concerned about scarring it is well worth seeking medical advice before and after birth.
More and more women are choosing to take a weekend away to visit a health spa. At these health spas you can try out a vast variety of treatments and generally relax. As many such places offer microdermabrasion this could be the perfect opportunity to try it out for the first time.
