Stopping foreclosure might not always be possible but if you do nothing at all as far as an attempt goes, then I suppose you will never know for sure if you could have possibly stopped it from happening to you. However, the only way that you could even come close to possibly stopping foreclosure would be if you are absolutely proactive and there are many different things that you should consider when making all of your attempts. This type of thing really can happen to just about anybody, it is not prejudice.
If you have fallen three or more behind on your mortgage payments then you are certainly at risk of foreclosure. If you aren't proactive about sorting something out and just sit around and wait for something to happen then there is a very good chance of losing your home.
Maybe you have recently had some unexpected bills that have got you worried that you won't be able to make your next mortgage payment on time. If you can relate to this then instead of waiting until you do miss the payment get on the phone to your mortgage company right away and warn them. Taking action in this way is definitely one of the best things you can do to save yourself from foreclosure.
When you are attempting to make arrangements with your mortgage company you need to be strong and assertive at all times. If all you do is wait until you start to miss payments then the chances of them wanting to speak to you and come to some agreement with you are much less. The people at the mortgage companies do not want you to lose your home as it will make them look bad to their supieriors.
They may be concerned that they should have used better judgment when they approved you for your mortgage loan in the first place. You should find that they will usually be more than willing to try and come to some sort of agreement with you. Remember that you don't need to wait until they start phoning you. Be proactive and take action by making the initial contact. That way you will be showing them that you are truly concerned about your situation and want to rectify the problem before it gets too late. If you do make the first contact you will find that they will be more receptive towards you and will be more prepared to listen to what you have to say.
After you have talked through the reasons why you are currently finding it difficult to keep up with your mortgage payments with them they will quite possibly be able to arrange some sort of payment plan to help get you back on track. In some cases they might even be willing to do that there and then over the phone with you. If you start being proactive and taking the initiative to try and sort out your situation then you will stand a much better chance of stopping foreclosure than it you simply sit around and wait for something to happen.
