Juicy Couture was originally called Travis Jeans and specialized in maternity wear, especially comfortable jeans. It was founded in 1994 by Pamela Kaist-Levy and Gela Taylor - the wife of John Taylor from the 80's pop band Duran Duran).

Their first product line were maternity jeans. They took old pairs of Levi jeans and placed elastic around the waist to make comfortable pregnant pants. When Melanie Griffith was sighted wearing them, the jeans became an overnight success.

But Juicy Couture is best known for its cloth and cashmere tracksuits. Coming in a range of colors, they are not your average daggy tracksuits. They are designed to show off the body's curves and are a little cheeky with "Juicy" printed on the bum.

Considered the very first "sexy tracksuit" with celebrity appeal, it ensures that you look like you've just been to the gym with Madonna. In fact, Juicy Couture's success has been due to the use of celebrity power. As Jennifer Lopez, Cameron Diaz and Britney Spear began to be photographed wearing their tracksuits, Juicy Couture was catapulted into designer status.

By giving their clothing away for free to celebrities, Juicy Couture doesn't need to spend any money on traditional advertising with the tabloid magazines doing all the work.

Liz Claiborne took over the brand in 2003 for an estimated $53 million. With Skaist-Levy and Taylor still in charge, it is now one of the company's most successful brands.

    The Juicy Handbag Range

What would a celebrity do in LA without a handbag to keep their rsmall dog in? The Juicy Couture Embroidered Terry Pet Satchel comes with leather-trims, mesh windows and a comfy interior cushion to cater for all your dogs needs.

For a more traditional designer look, the 'Link Tycoon' Bowler Bag has a chunky chain, logo detail at the front and textured leather.

The Juicy 'Daisy - Baby Fluffy' is an embroidered terry satchel featuring beads, leather piping, buckled handles and wooden beads. Perfect for that rich, celebrity look.
