Open source technology needs a way for developers to communicate with each other and submit additions to their overall project- and forums make for a great solution to this problem. And because there are so many forum systems to choose from, open source developers will have plenty of choice.

We can't stop the snowball success of the forum, but rather, we should embrace it as a gift to the Internet. After all, it isn't every day that we can find tens of thousands of people who actually want to hear us talk about our problems, studies, or projects!
