Although the Internet has become the largest and most frequented source for information, there are still large sets of commonly used data that are missing or overlooked.  Common Data is the reference information that is available to the public regarding all types of commonly found information and data standards. 

 

Examples of Common Data include ISO country and currency codes, international dialing codes and postal code formats, standards such as SIC and NAICS codes, and industry-specific codes such those related to the healthcare and pharmaceutical industries.

 

Even though most of this information is free to the public and necessary for those conducting research or marketing, there has been no central location on the Internet to access all categories of common data, until now.

 

A new website called CommonDataHub is aiming to be the universal repository for all of the common data categories necessary for business or personal research.  CommonDataHub is built with the idea that a single repository can host several forms of data sets in formats that are easy to search and download.  Other sites provide data in the form of compressed text files, which can be harder to work with and slow down the data extraction process. CommonDataHub provides an easy-to-use download functionality where the user can choose multiple formats for export. 

 

CommonDataHub also provides additional attributes and equivalency mapping among related code sets, automatic email notifications of data changes, and an advanced push technology to keep code versions updated as needed.
