You may think this story about my unbelievable tanning experience is quite entertaining. I will agree with you, but have to tell you that it did take me quite some time to get to that point. For a very long time I was quite embarrassed about the entire situation. I was also upset at myself for not taking the time to ask any questions as this would have clearly let me know what I was in for. It is very likely I would not have booked my appointment for this procedure if I had all of the facts before hand.

Airbrush tanning does involve your body being sprayed with a very safe type of color. It will continue to get darker after about 24 hours. The results will last an average of seven to ten days. You will get the longest results if you exfoliate before you arrive for your tanning session. In my case, this is exactly what I was looking for. I wanted to hurry and have a nice looking tan before heading out of town for a few days of vacation.

I had read some information online about this, or so I thought. I had imagined that this process would involve me stepping into a booth and being sprayed with the tanning solution. Since it was to last for seven to ten days I would be all set for the duration of my travels. When I made the appointment over the phone all I was told was to wear an old bra and underwear if I wasn't planning to tan in the nude.

When I arrived at the tanning salon the staff was very friendly. They showed me where to go to get undressed. They said someone would be with me in a minute. I should have wondered right then what was going to take place right? Well, I found out soon enough that it was a far cry from what I had in mind. I am sure the lady that directed me didn't have a clue that this was all new to me.

My initial reaction was to simply tell her no way and to get dressed quickly. Yet I was also embarrassed to tell her I wasn't going to be comfortable with this. To her merit, she did her job very well. She tried her best to make me feel comfortable during it. I was just unable to relax and I am sure she has dealt with that before. I was certain though that airbrush tanning wasn't something I would be doing ever again.

I froze though when I realized this is how it was going to be done. It is very hard to focus on much of anything when you have someone touching you and basically painting all over your body. Even though she was very professional I was completely uncomfortable the entire time. This was likely the longest 15 minutes of my life. I am sure I was bright red when I left and had to pay for my tanning experience.

Even though I did get a tan that looked real, it just wasn't a procedure that works for me. I am not comfortable in that type of environment and I didn't schedule another appointment for that reason. For those that aren't too worried about being in that type of position with a stranger though I would recommend it.

Make sure you know what you will get with your tanning experience. It really does pay to take a few minutes and ask questions. The owners of such facilities should also make it a point to readily offer this information. I am sure I am not the only one that had such an experience. Yet it was also something I learned from as a consumer and that has served me well.
