    What is UID Registry?

The UID Registry is essentially a software system which has been created by the DoD (Department of Defense). The UID Registry acts as a repository for information on all the items which meet UID standard norms and criteria. It enables the DoD to have better visibility into their wide network of assets. If you want to comply with the DoD mandate for UID (Unique Item Identifier), you must submit all relevant and essential UID information to the UID registry.

Submission of items to the UID Registry can be done in three different ways such as:

Direct UID Registry Transaction: You can submit all computer files that contain your UID information via the Internet safely and securely.

WAWF Web Interface: UID Registry can also be done through the WAWF Web Interface. The Wide Area Work Flow system can accept the UID data with the receiving reports and combo (2-N-1) documents. The WAWF system forwards all the UID data to the UID Registry.

UID Registry Web Interface: The third way of submitting your UID information is through the UID Registry web interface. The UID Registry website allows you to type in all UID data directly. Although many consider this to be time-consuming, cumbersome and error-prone, however, this process can be used effectively in cases where you deal with an extremely low volume of UID shipments.

    UID Registry Data Elements:

There are several UID data elements that are required to be submitted during UID Registry. These UID Registry data elements essentially include contract and shipment numbers, product identifier (NSN/PN), the item number (CLIN) and unit cost of each marked item.

       1.  UID Type (Construct 1 or 2)

       2. Entity Identifier (such as CAGE) of company assigning the UID

       3. IAC (Issuing Agency Code) which controls the Entity ID

       4. Part Number (Construct 2 only)

       5. Serial Number

       6. Fully constructed UID
