Are Internet home business opportunities legitimate? It is a question that many who are seeking to start their own business have. The fact is that many Internet home based business opportunities can help people find the freedom they are seeking. It can be done, but you have to learn how to avoid the scams.

Can you find a legitimate home based business opportunity? The truth is that there are more scams than legitimate opportunities on the Internet. In a recent government study of these offers of increased wealth and independence, an astonishing 81% were found to be nothing more that frauds.

Ever heard the saying that if something sounds too good to be true, it most likely is? The same can be said when finding an Internet business opportunity. It is a sad reality that there are con artists sitting out there waiting for you to send them money.

So, how do you know the legitimate sites from the scam sites? This is the first step up a steep hill on your road to independence and success. This may seem like an impossible uphill battle, but once you get started you will be a pro at weeding though these sites.

One of the best defenses of scam sites is the victims that have been scammed by them. Search the questioned site in the search engine along with the word "scam". There are sites devoted to posting information on sites that have conned people. Find these sites and add them to your favorites. When you are unsure, visit one of these sites and see if they are known as scammers.

Don't make the assumption that all is well if you cannot find any information on the site in question. It might be a new site or its victims haven't reported anything yet. Don't let yourself be the first one. Inspect every opportunity closely before joining. Most scam sites look different yet run the same scam. The trick is to learn the clues and you will be able to spot these right away.

Legitimate sites will always have a help section, working links, current and detailed information and personal support. A scam site will most likely not have any of these. If the site does not have any or all of these there is immediate cause for concern and the site should be avoided.

So, if others ask you, "Are Internet home business opportunities legitimate?" you now know how to answer. It is important to pass this information on to others who may be interested in work from home businesses but are unsure of how to proceed. Not only will you save them a lot of time, and money, but you will keep that money out of the scammer's hands.
