Vehicle tracking systems are dead useful. They help prevent car theft and they solve crimes. These are very efficient devices, but do you know how they work? Vehicle tracking devices are very interesting. The user doesn't need too much hardware components to use it. These are only made of two kinds of hardware devices: the remote receiver and transmitter. Although various communication protocols such as GPS, GPRS and radio frequency need different kinds of hardware materials, these components only differ in terms of their configuration. The usual equipment and their functions still remain the same.
Transmitter:
The transmitter is an electronic device that is responsible for propagating a signal to be intercepted by the receiver. Depending upon the configuration of the transmitter, it can emit signals in the form of radio waves for radio frequency-type vehicle tracking systems, it can emit microwaves for satellite-based vehicle tracking systems such as GS, or it can also emit electromagnetic waves for cellular-based GPS.
There are several basic parts that make up the transmitter:
Power supply - The power supply (or power supply unit) is a device or system used to supply electrical energy to the transmitter.
Oscillator - This is the circuit in the transmitter that makes the repetitive signal.
Modulator - This is a device that works by varying the static waveform inside the transmitter. By doing this, messages can be formed from all the produced signals.
Amplifier - The amplifier does as its name suggests; it amplifies the signal of the transmitter large enough for the receiver to intercept.
The Receiver
This is the other half that completes the tracking device. A remote component, it works by getting the signals sent by the transmitter. This lets the receiver determine where the transmitter is. Receivers also vary to suit the type of transmitter available.
