If you are lucky enough to be in the market for a true sprts car, then there is going to be one questions you want answered. And, it does not really have to do with the stereo options, or A/C, it has to do witht he engine. You want you know how fast will this baby go fro 0 to 60?

You talk about fast, lets look at some of the faster speeds that have been clocked. The 1994 Dauer 962 LeMans went from 0 to 60 in 2.6 seconds. The Ferrari can go from 0 to 60 in about the 3.5 seconds. And then there is the Chevy Corvette, which has been clocked at 2.9 seconds from 0 - 60. That is flat out fast!

So, what exactly makes up a fast car?

The appearance of the vehicle, the structure, the curves, and the smooth lines all are responsible, in some part, to the speed of the car. This sleek design is what will enable the wind and air to smoothly go over the car, and not allow any drag to occur. This will help it to achieve top speeds.

Once of the other reasons sports cars can go fast is their weight. Many sports cars will cut certain areas out of the vehicles to eliminate weight. Take just a few examples I am sure you are aware of: smaler truncks (if any), smaller back seats (if any), and a very tight fit when inside the vehicle. All of these reductions in the areas of the car help to remove the weight of the car and make the car go faster.

A last consideration in speed, however, is its general dynamics which include handling and drag when driving. A sports car has very little value if it cannot sustain its straight-line speeds when driving in tight curbs and ends up crushed after it hit a dead end. It is for this precise reason that even the fastest sports cars are usually rear-wheel driven rather than front-wheel driven, because of the fact that the rear-wheel drive provides greater traction and allows for the weight to be distributed evenly as the car makes a turn.

All of the parts of the sports car help to keep it fast. And, while we are not really talking about a big difference in how fast a car goes, you still want the faster car. It is, afterall, all about the speed!
