Many people decide on a art tattoo design based on a special occurrence in their lives. It might be a deceased loved one's name or even a current husband or wife. People want to let others know that their tattoo has meaning and is not just a passing fancy. Regardless of modern reasons, the tattoo once held deeper meaning. It could mean the difference between life and death for the wearer.

The art tattoo has certainly come a long way since the first human marked his or her body for a ritual. Many of the early markings were to distinguish between clans or tribes but have since evolved into a pop cultural phenomenon. Soccer mom's sporting tattoos on their ankles and teenagers eagerly marking their body to show their transcendence from childhood into adulthood.

The art tattoo has come into popular culture in many forms. Ancient ritualized markings denoting caste levels, honor to various gods and goddesses as well as accomplishments have found themselves at the end of a tattoo machine for the modern human canvas as a way to show personal expression.

Early tattoos have been discovered on every populated continent and group of people ranging from Polynesia to Native Americans and Vikings. Early explorers discovered the mummified bodies of ancient Egyptians elected for many years to not make the discovery of tattoos known to the public due to the negative reaction that it might generate. This nondisclosure was not made public until 1891.

This is defiantly one decision that you do not want to go with the lowest price available. It more than pays to be well informed and know the difference between the many types of shops. The shop should be professional and still make you feel comfortable to hang around and chat. The better tattoo shops will have their own custom designs, and you will need to make an appointment ahead of time.

The cost of an original tattoo can be expensive, but not blending into the crowd with the same tattoo as five other people in the room more than makes up for it. By getting your ink done at one of the better places you'll get superior craftsmanship and more help if something is not to your satisfaction. You will always get what you pay for, if you don't want to pay then you will not get superior craftsmanship.

An art tattoo may still be considered a mark of stigma for older generations. This is especially true of more conservative individuals in their latter years of life. Even middle aged individuals find themselves regretting the tokens of their past and are turning to laser tattoo removal as a way to erase those memories. Younger generations are enthralled with the idea of ink marking their rites of passage from childhood to adulthood.

Far too often spur of the moment decisions factor into which art tattoo design a person chooses. Ultimately it would be great if every person put thought and planning into their ink work. After all, each tattoo is a way to communicate to the world what the person has to say. Are they really proud of that frog tattoo on their back or could a different tattoo been chosen to show their carefree ways? Whatever tattoo is chosen, each is a story waiting to be told.
