Photography, whether practiced as a hobby or as a profession is fun. The fun would be more if you could use of these photos to make some money, slowly and steadily, without interfering with your current work timetable, and relatively easily.

Most people who have cameras would have accumulated a bunch of photographs; photographs taken during vacations, celebrations of anniversaries and other unforgettable events. These photos can be used to make some money, which in turn could make taking photos even more fun. You can sell photos for fun and for profit.

The photo industry does not differentiate your photos based on age or sex. And the photo industry is particularly large composed of magazine editors, travel agents, banks, web designers, students and even chefs. Each one of these people require a particular style or content of pictures and by trial and error and experience you can find out where your line of action falls and specialize accordingly.

It is immaterial whether you are a professional or an amateur. There is no discrimination based on sex or age. All that is needed is a camera, a jest for life and a flair and desire for taking photographs. Various people buy photos for various reasons. To name a few: Web Designers, Magazine Editors, Travel Agents, Insurance Companies, Banks and even Chefs and Students.

Another would be to make use of Photo Stock Sites. These are online sites where you can upload your photos and wait for them to be sold. If you have had a camera for some years, then you are bound to have a stock of some photos (hence the Photo Stock Site) taken during your vacations with your family. With all the instructions required to upload photos posted on the site itself, these sites are fairly easy to use. There are a profusion of such site which can be located through the Net.

On the other hand you could construct your own web site either by yourself provided you have the expertise to do so. Once built, the rest is similar to the stock sites, the difference is that you own the site and you cannot sit back and expect the flood to begin. You have to do the housekeeping and keep the accounts. You also have the option of putting out your site as a Photo Stock Site and have other photographers upload their photos. If you do not have the expertise to build your own web site, get an expert to do it for you.

An admirable way of selling photos, without using the Internet and which is applicable for those purists who still swear on their analog cameras, are photo competitions. Some more effort has to be put in by you in that you have to get the photo printed, find a suitable frame, hunt for the places where these competitions are going to be held and get you exhibit entered. Though the exposure is limited, it has its plus points. Whether your photo wins a price or not, droves of people do come and see it and photos do get sold here too.

For a novice, the best methods are the Internet and the Stock Photos sites and the photo competitions, in that order. After gaining experience, it would be wiser to invest in a web site of your own. But whatever be the system that you are going to adopt, start immediately, upload your photos, take some more pictures and upload them and if possible get your friend's photos and upload them also, before the competition gets hot.
